I watched a couple videos when I got done with my readings, and checking my blog today. They came up on the feed after listening to the song of the day; Time Was, by Wishbone Ash. Not bad guitars in that, and they, like most good groups, have a great bass player. Bass is important to me. Not many good songs have a bad, or hidden bass line.

The first was Rick Beato playing an Ibanez? Archtop talking about George Benson. What a great sound Rick has with that. My archtop is just acoustic, and sounds sort of like that, but it is not so incredibly even across the notes. What is it about archtops that gives the sound? The wood? Some sound too stringy. Too much high end stuff.

Then the duet of Stradi basses. I just like the lower sound. Again the sound is just full and warm.

I also like classicals, and old romantic guitars. The gut/nylon strings have a different sound than the steel strings, but I didn't watch anything like that today.

I just watched that Rick Beato video again, and I see scratches on the guitar. Someone signed it! Pat somebody, 2000 something. Rick knows what he's looking for.
